Community Service Project:
The public service project this year will support the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. This organization was founded in 1981 in Staunton, VA and is currently headquartered in Verona, VA with branches in Charlottesville, Winchester and Lynchburg. It serves 25 counties and 8 cities on either side of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Recent studies indicate that 16.8% of children in Virginia struggle with hunger. The Blue Ridge Food Bank serves 114,400 people each month including 8,250 children through after school and summer programs. Their Vision is a hunger-free Virginia in a hunger-free America.
We are requesting that each chapter donate $50 to this worthy cause. Preferably, a separate check made out to Blue Ridge Food Bank, be included with your registration. Cash donations will be accepted at registration. Our goal for this project is $500.
For your shopping pleasure, vendors will be located at the Holiday Inn in the area outside the meeting room. You will be able to begin your shopping day at 8:30 a.m. Shopping will be available until 3:00 pm except during the Rededication Ceremony (9:45 -10:30 am).
