Welcome!

On behalf of the officers and members, it is an honor and a pleasure as President of the Charlottesville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to welcome you to our website. The Charlottesville Alumnae Chapter (CAC) was chartered on June 9, 1969, and for over 50 years, we have been a pillar of strength and compassion in our community rendering countless hours of service, awarding scholarships, and remaining socially active.

We are grateful for the ongoing support of our community partners. Collectively, we work together to develop and implement programs that benefit the Counties of Albemarle, Nelson, Fluvanna, and Louisa, and Cities of Charlottesville, Waynesboro, and Harrisonburg. I encourage you to explore the site for information on our chapter’s history, programs, and events.

Soror Halima Walker

Soror Halima Walker is a devoted healthcare advocate and the epitome of “evolving with intention”.

She is committed to each of her roles, a nursing instructor in higher education, educator in public schools, nursing director at Region 10 and newly elected VNA Commissioner on Government Relations. Soror Walker is dedicated to the health of women, children and all generations. She exemplifies our sisterhood with grace and passion to improve our greater Charlottesville community leading our Sickle Celebration Blood Drive. This effort supplied Power Red donations integral in supporting Sickle Cell blood transfusions. She also leads our community CPR and first AID training programs.

Her transformative leadership style focuses on equity, access, and safety in healthcare and is evident in our communities to help meet families where they are.

She leads our chapter as the current Risk Management chair ensuring that we are aligned with national standards to serve parents, students and sorors to increase our community presence and safety awareness.

We salute her and celebrate these accomplishments. Let’s celebrate Soror Halima Walker as we spotlight her this month dedicated to service and our Founders.
