Our History

The illustrious charter members of Charlottesville Alumnae are Soror Barbara Williams, Soror Virginia Bell, Soror Faye Benton, Soror Florence Bryant, Soror Rosa Burks, Soror Dorothy Conrad, Soror Daisy Holmes, Soror Gertrude Mitchell, Soror Nancee Prichett, Soror Felicia Rowe, Soror Mary Scott, Soror Josephine Whitsett, and Soror Zelda DeBerry. Soror  Josephine Whisett of Charlottesville, Virginia, accepted the appointment as President of this new chapter  on June 07, 1969. While promoting excellence and the continuation of assistance to those in need, Soror Florence Bryant was elected in 1971 to serve as the second chapter president of the Charlottesville Alumnae Chapter. In 1971, the chapter supported the charter of Iota Alpha on the campus of James Madison University and in  1973, Kappa Rho at the University of Virginia.
